The Citizen's Watershed Monitoring Project(CWMP) Interactive Map's Help Page

  1.  See where our citizen testing site locations are, along with other Pamlico-Tar River Basin data.
  2.  Link to pages with site-specific data.
  3.  Explore your watershed!

Using the Tools:

Select a tool by clicking on the tool's icon in the toolbar on the left. Once the tool is selected you can then click on the map window to use the tool.

Navigating the map:

Use the zoom tools to focus in on your area of interest. Once zoomed in you can then do a number of things...

You can use the "Strafe Compass" to pan/move your map in any direction an arrow is pointing in. See below.

StrafeCompass2 Move Map N Move Map NE Move Map E Move Map SE Move Map S Move Map SW Move Map W Move Map NW

You can also click on items in the map and get more data about them... see below.

Linking to monitoring site and USGS data:

Info/Select tool allows you to click on a point location(PTRF CWMP locations, USGS Stream Gages, and Potential Contaminant Sources[this layer is off by default - it can be activated via the legend]).

In many cases the point's data will contain a hyperlink to an external web page that contains site specific data for that location!

Switching between different Map Themes:

Switching your Map Theme will toggle on/off map layer sets. Your position in the map will remain the same.

The default map will produce the fastest rendered map, therefore it is recommended for use by users with slow internet connections(56k modem or less).

Using Address Finder:

Simply enter an address or town name into the Address Finder and click Lookup. Caution - your results will depend on your syntax. Use the default as your guide: 108 Gladden St, Washington, NC.

The map will re-center on your address match(if there is one) and remain at the same scale(zoom).
